Lauter & Harriman Home

Roy Lauter and Hubert Harriman, who went to Congo to preach the Katako Kombe camp meeting, returned home on Friday night, despite violence in the capital city, Kinshasa.  Praise the Lord for their safe return and for the great move of the Holy Spirit in the camp meeting services.

Political Concerns

Dear Praying Friends,
The results of the National Elections held on July 30 came out today. President Kabila received 45% of the votes to Memba’s 25% which is Kabila’s toughest opponent.  Since President Kabila received less than 50% of the votes there will now be another vote in October as a run off between these top two candidates out of the 35 who ran.
Now this evening the news out of Kinshasa is that the forces of Kabila and Memba are firing guns at each other there.  The UN forces were getting involved in order to stop the conflict.
Roy and Hubert are to fly out tomorrow to Kananga on their way to Kinshasa so please pray for their safety as they go and that they will make their flights as scheduled.  Paul, Brent Duncan and I are to travel via pick up back to Lodja on Thursday and are to catch a flight out of there on Friday.

Camp Meeting

The camp meeting went very well.  The altar was full after every service.  It closed Sunday night with communion for over 1,000 believers.  Praise the Lord for His blessings.

Camp Begins!

This morning (Fri., Aug. 18th) at 6am Congo time, the truck finally arrived at Katako with the rest of the supplies after struggling with flat tires, broken axles, fuel shortage, and a failed transmission.  They immediately unloaded the boards that had already been cut to use as benches in the tabernacle, which has a temporary palm branch roof.  The camp meeting began with an 8am service, which will be followed by a 10:15am, 2:30pm, and 5:00pm service, four meetings a day, for the next three days.  (Making up for lost time!)  Please continue to be in prayer!

Students Home Safely

All of the Asbury and Wesley College students are now back home in the U.S. to start school.  We thank God for His protection on them and for their willing hearts of service.  Of the original twelve, only Paul and Marty Law and Brent Duncan remain in Congo.
